Into the Wild
Kaziranga National Park is divided into four main ranges, each with its own character, landscape and wildlife. Safaris operate under the authority of the Assam Forest Department, with authorised local guides accompanying all vehicles. We work with experienced, knowledgeable local guides who understand the park, its wildlife and its rhythms.
We do not make exaggerated promises about wildlife encounters. Every sighting is a gift. We will always give you honest, accurate information about what to expect.
Safari options
How to Explore the Park
Jeep Safari
The primary way to explore Kaziranga. Open jeeps with an authorised local guide enter the park at designated gates and follow established routes through the grasslands, wetlands and forest edges. Each range offers a different experience — from the open floodplain vistas of the Central Range to the denser forest of Burapahar.
Morning and afternoon sessions, approximately 2–3 hours each
Jeep safaris are available across all four ranges. Booking through the Forest Department is required. We assist with all arrangements.
Elephant Safari
A regulated wildlife experience subject to Forest Department rules, availability and ethical tourism principles. Elephant safaris have historically been associated with the Central and Western ranges and offer a different perspective on the landscape — moving quietly through the tall grass at a different height and pace.

Elephant safari availability is subject to Forest Department regulations and current policy. We present this experience with full transparency about what is available during your visit. We will always provide accurate, up-to-date guidance.

Kaziranga's Four Ranges
Mihimukh
Central Range
The most visited and accessible range, offering excellent wildlife sightings across open grasslands and wetlands. The Central Range is particularly good for rhino, elephant and water buffalo sightings, with open terrain that makes wildlife viewing easier. The Diphlu River runs through this range.
Open grassland and wetland — excellent visibility
Bagori
Western Range
Known for its beautiful landscapes and reliable wildlife encounters. The Western Range offers a mix of open grassland and wetland habitats, with good rhino and elephant sightings. It is also associated with elephant safari experiences.

Agoratoli
Eastern Range
A quieter, less-visited range offering a more intimate safari experience. The Eastern Range has diverse habitats and is particularly good for Wild Water Buffalo. The reduced visitor numbers give it a wilder, more remote feel.

Burapahar Range
The most forested of the four ranges, offering a distinctly different character from the open grasslands of the other ranges. Denser canopy, different species composition and a wilder, more forested feel. Good for Gaur, Hoolock Gibbon and forest birds.

Before you go
Practical Information
Safari Season
Kaziranga National Park is typically open from November to April/May. The park closes during the monsoon season (approximately June to October) when flooding inundates much of the grassland. We will always confirm current opening dates and conditions when planning your visit.
Safari Timing
Morning safaris begin at dawn and are generally considered the best time for wildlife activity. Afternoon safaris offer different light and different wildlife behaviour. Both are worthwhile.
Guides
All safaris are accompanied by an authorised local guide. We work with experienced guides who know the park well and can help you understand what you are seeing — the landscape, the wildlife, the ecology and the conservation story.
Booking
Safari permits are issued by the Assam Forest Department. We assist with all bookings and arrangements. Contact us well in advance, particularly during peak season (November to February).
